Fuck Microsoft but aren’t there data residency laws that say French data must be stored in Europe?
The problem with U.S. companies operating in Europe is the CLOUD Act. It doesn’t matter where the physical servers are located, if the U.S. Government wants access to the data, U.S. Based companies are required by law to allow it.
It’s simply astounding the slop Americans will accept as “Journalism” nowadays.
Though Musk slammed Trump’s handling of the Epstein files, his attacks themselves were riddled with false assumptions, including conspiracy theories about the existence of an Epstein “client list,” which is unsupported by evidence.
So ABC “News” just straight up parrots the Trump administrations talking points as if they are objective facts. “Left Leaning” bias my asshole :(
And what is the “evidence” they use to back up this supposed fact, some lawyer hasn’t seen it. As we all know, absence of evidence is evidence of absence. Good Job ABC, case closed.
Not to mention this lawyers story is full of holes.
First of all he claims to be representing Epstein’s victims, but goes on to say that
“he is bound by attorney-client privilege and cannot ethically reveal the names of any of Epstein’s alleged associates without permission from his clients.”
Exsqueeze me? Admittedly I am not a lawyer, but what exactly would be the point of ‘representing’ the victims if they refuse to release the names of the people who assaulted them? Isn’t the point to bring these people to justice? How would it benefit the victims in any way to not release the names? The only way that would make sense is if Edwards was only there to distribute hush money payments. Can anyone explain this to me?
Then he goes on to say
“It’s difficult to even discern, when he would send a woman to one of his friends, whether that was even a motivation. What he was not is a person on the top of a sex trafficking operation that was sending women to powerful people around the world so that he could make money. It was not a business,”
but later in the exact same article the writer says
“And it raises questions whether those records, if made public, could finally lead to a better understanding of how a college dropout from Coney Island managed to accumulate astounding wealth and proximity to power – a transformation that has long defied ready explanation.”
Gee, its so weird how a guy who was a habitual child molester, who was friends with some very rich and powerful scumbags, who’s partner was convicted of sex trafficking, and who was mysteriously able to accumulate “astounding wealth” is also clearly and unambiguously innocent of running a sex trafficking operation, because ‘some guy said so’. If anyone read that sentence and thinks it sounds plausible please PM me, I just got some really nice bridges in famous cities and I’m willing to let them go for cheap.

God damn I love it :) I’ve been messing with Linux for 20 years now and there are some patterns that never seem to change.
In almost every thread about Linux there will usually be:
1 person bragging about 'Using Arch" btw (before that it was LFS or Slackware)
1 or 2 people saying this will be “The Year of the Linux Desktop”
2 or 3 people joking about it being “The Year of the Linux Desktop”
10 - 15 people explaining why it wont be or shouldn’t ever be “The Year of the Linux Desktop”
3 or 4 people complaining about how rude the Linux community is.
10-20 people saying that isn’t their experience and/or they always try to help people when they can.
1 or 2 people actually being rude (who are usually downvoted).
2 or 3 people saying how Windows/Mac OS is better in certain ways.
4 or 5 people complaining about one specific thing that doesn’t quite work for them in Linux, or one specific Windows/Mac only program they must use for work.
8- 10 people giving them suggestions about how to solve their issue or work around it.
Personally I love the Linux community. The people are mostly great, friendly, able to think outside the box, and willing to help others. I try to emulate that whenever possible. Sure you are going to get rude people in every scene, I just ignore them.

With the rise of Trump-style ‘conservatives’ Republicans have adopted a new strategy, Mercantilism. Mercantilism doesn’t even pretend to be fair or free. The word ‘Competition’ doesn’t even appear anywhere in that article because competition is bad for Capitalists and they see no reason to continue to lie about that. They actively oppose free trade.
Even if ‘Capitalists’ possessed the ability to feel shame for being hypocrites (which they certainly do not), calling them out for not following along with the principles of ‘the free market’ does no good since they have abandoned advocating for that a while ago.

Cool, I’ll check it out. I’m not a dev so I mainly use GitHub to download and install other peoples work. It’s nice to know that there is a decent alternative for people who need it.
That used to be the case, it is enabled by default now.
Those instructions are about how to reinstall SteamOS on your deck. A little further down the page it talks about how to install on other handheld PC’s like the Legion Go and ROG Ally.
Currently, expanded support includes devices with AMD hardware and an NVME drive, targeted toward handheld devices. Please note, support for all devices that is not officially ‘Powered by SteamOS’ is not final (currently anything that is not a Steam Deck or Legion Go S)
While you technically can download it and people have been able to install it on their PC’s, Valve doesn’t recommend doing so.
They probably will (hopefully) have a version targeted toward PC’s in the future, but it’s not there yet.
If you want a SteamOS style experience on desktop you would be better off using Bazzite since that is what it’s designed for.
You are correct that it is possible to do, but it’s not recommended.
If you are going to compete with AAA games it’s going to require a big budget, which not all Devs have access to.
A high quality AA game would probably do great, but would be unlikely to outsell a AAA with hundreds of millions of dollars for budget.
Obsidian made a fantastic game with Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire but it was considered a ‘failure’ sales wise (at least at launch), despite being well received.
Obsidian sold to Micro$oft despite making very high quality games and their crowdfunding campaigns consistently earning more money than they were asking for. The stated reason was they found it hard to keep their employees paid consistently and they didn’t want to lay people off. Also that they thought they could do just as good as other big players in the industry if they had access to larger budgets.
I think it was a bad move. They managed to survive the massive round of 9,000 jobs cuts to Microsoft’s gaming division (this time), but you just know that Microsoft would cut them in a heartbeat if they thought it would save them a dime in the future. That being said I think it’s understandable to want to see your employees paid, and it’s just a sad fact that AAA games require huge budgets nowadays, so I can kind of understand why they sold, even if I don’t agree with it.

It would just require smaller teams making lower budget games that are more focused on Art than sales, which I would be really happy about honestly. Too many people are in this industry solely to rake in the big bucks.
Very often they do, but not always. In this particular case they do.
Not a problem at all. If you do end up having difficulties you might try a different distro, I’ve heard a few people complaining about Mint lately. In theory though it should work just fine.
In my personal experience every game I’ve tried to play works just as well or better than it does on Windows. Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, Prey, Red Dead Redemption 2, The Outer Worlds, No Mans Sky, Pathfinder Kingmaker, Pillars of Eternity 1 & 2, Divinity Original Sin 2, Skyrim SE, Fallout 4 & 76 etc. Even older games like Baldur’s Gate and the Original Fallout work great* :)

Sure, but you have to remember that U.S. based corporations and Microsoft in particular are formed from pure evil out of the deepest darkest pits of hell and they love nothing more than sucking the asshole of the U.S. Government, who turns a blind eye to their monopoly and lets them get away with the most foul and disgusting business practices their little black hearts can think of.
They happily facilitate the U.S. Government to spy on U.S. Citizens when there isn’t even some heinous law that allows them to legally do so. If they don’t even give a single shit about their friends, family and neighbors- what are the odds they would go out of their way to protect Europeans, what with their love of ‘consumer protections’ and ‘anti monopoly’ laws?
