I’m currently looking for glass food storage containers (freezer safe, oven safe as a bonus).
My search so far has only turned up Pyrex Europe, which is an American company but produces exclusively in France.
Other brands I’ve checked:
- Orthex: imports their glassware from abroad, and does not produce it in Sweden/Finland (confirmed via email, still waiting on the actual country) Edit: confirmed made in China by their support.
- Glasslock: offices and warehouses in Germany, production in South Korea
- Luminarc: French company, produced in UAE
- Duralex: French company, made in France. Does not deliver outside of France (EU website is “under construction”). I reached out about the broken website.
- IKEA 365: Swedish company, glass made in different countries (confirmed France, Czech Republic). Lids made in China.
- Weck: German company, probably made in Germany. Not ideal shapes, and while theoretically freezer proof, not meant for that.
- Frigoverre by Bormilio Luigi: comment said produced in Europe and China, their own website does not show a production site outside of Europe. No direct sales from their website, no local retailer for me.
- vilde.pl seems to produce in Poland, but not what I am looking for
- Kuhn Rikon produces in Switzerland, but no delivery for me
- Status Innovation seems to produce in Slovenia
So I’d appreciate any tips and I will update the list with what I find.
Edit: Seems like Duralex fits the criteria but does not deliver outside of France. Please keep additional suggestions coming!
Current top list:
- Duralex if the EU website would work
- Frigoverre if there would be direct sales or a local retailer
- Kuhn Rikon if they would deliver to me
- Status Innovation seems to produce in Slovenia
- IKEA 365 despite the Chinese lid
- Weck, because the shape is just not practical for me and they do go beyond 500 ml.
- Pyrex Europe, made in France, but US company.
Luminarc glass boxes are made in France, not sure where you got that they were made in the UAE?
Edit: wow you’re right actually, not all of them say they’re made in France. That’s crazy, I wonder why the UAE???
Yeah, I was also pretty surprised. UAE makes absolutely no sense.
I was bored and had a bit of a look around.
https://www.vonhaus.com/vh_en/blog/vonhaus-who-we-are- Might be worth checking where their glass products are manufactured.

https://www.kuhnrikon.ie/about-kuhn-rikon/
Unsure about these https://vilde.pl/en/about/about-us-57
Thanks!
Von Haus and Joseph Joseph seem to produce in China.
Status Innovation seems to produce in Slovenia, so very interesting to me.
Kuhn Rikon looks good, but no delivery to northern Europe.
Bormilio Luigi also looks good, but no direct sales and no local retailer for me.
Vilde does not really have what I’m looking for.
I’d recommend weck. According to Wikipedia they still produce in Germany. https://www.weck.de/
Here they describe that you can also freeze the glasses. https://www.weckglaeser.com/ideen-rezepte/kuechen-tipps/einfrieren.htm
You must not seal them airtight if you freeze them .
Thanks, how could I forget Weck? Unfortunately the shape is not super convenient, but I’ll keep them in mind.
But they have glas lids and replacement seals will still be available in decades, so these are bifl
They do have flat ones https://www.shop-weck.de/p/gourmet-glas-450-ml-mit-glasdeckel-6-st
Boy have I the thing for you ! Duralex is a french born and french produced brand of glassware, including storage containers that are at least freezer and dishwasher safe, not sure about oven. Bonus point, the company is now owned by the workers themselves, so even more reason to support them !
Hope this corresponds to your request
That was much faster than expected! Thank you so much!
Edit: No delivery from Duralex themselves outside of France unfortunately
I would also take a look at the https://www.emsa.com/ (Germany) product line. They have glass containers, maybe some fit your criteria.
https://www.emsa.com/frischhalten/glas-frischhaltedosen claims:
Whether microwave, oven, fridge or even freezer: borosilicate glass food storage containers are of high quality, withstand cold and heat and can therefore be used in a variety of ways in the kitchen. Whether freshly prepared or still uncooked. Thanks to the hygienic lid with the tried-and-tested freshness seal, food stays fresh for longer. The glass food storage containers can also be stacked inside each other on the shelf to save space thanks to the integrated stacking edge. It is therefore definitely worth buying.
Edit: Company is registered in Germany, but hold by a French company. The production takes place in Germany and China (according to wikipedia).
Looks nice, no retail partners outside of the DACH region unfortunately.
I fucking love Weck glasses, but if the shape isnt for you then thats just how it is i guess.
Not sure if this helps, but
Thanks, that looks interesting, but I think that is a list of B2B companies and not aimed at consumers
Yeah, I was wondering if any of those companies sell to consumers.
Well now I know why my family has cheap and good glass containers, companies are all French 🤷
One to cross off your list is Anchor Hocking, my wife swears by them, but they are made in the US.
I just checked my IKEA 365+ containers and they are made in Czech Republic! Despite the sometimes cheap stuff IKEA offers i think these are well made. They seal well, can be put into the oven / freezer (i did both) and are stackable (without their lids). The base is fully glass, the top part is plastic but i think they even offer separate lids if you so desire.
Thanks, seems like I need to go and check where my local IKEA gets their stuff from. Edit: Glass part is made in Czech Republic, lid is made in China.
This. Here, the Ikea glasscontainers are made in france. They’re good, are oven and freezer safe and come in a variety of sizes and different lids to select from
