-* Modi’s supporters call for boycott of foreign brands in India -* U.S. tariffs on Indian goods stoking anti-American sentiment -* India is key growth market for American companies -* Group linked to Modi’s party protesting against foreign brands
NEW DELHI, Aug 11 (Reuters) - From McDonald’s and Coca-Cola to Amazon and Apple, U.S.-based multinationals are facing calls for a boycott in India as business executives and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s supporters stoke anti-American sentiment to protest against U.S. tariffs.
As an American, please do boycott American goods. I don’t know what it’s gonna take for half this country to stop supporting such an absolute dumbfuck, but hopefully a crumbling economy will cause an iota of critical thought in their two-cell brain
I am in Switzerland and doing so since February. For example, I’ve been wearing New Balance shoes for 20 years (buying a new pair ever 9 months on average) this year I bought Puma. Also switched away from all US services I was using including Cloudflare and MS Office. When buying an Airfryer last month, Ninja was out of the question and I went with a European brand instead. Additionally, I stopped investing into US stocks for the first time in 15 years I mostly bought European and Japanese ETFs this year.
Oof. Friend, your economy, through the fault of greedy little shits 90+ years ago to now, is likely tied to ours in some cocaine fuel financial tomfoolery. Get your politicians to divest if you can. F35s are a good start.
Any tips on the air fryer? Philips is basically Chinese, what did you buy and how happy are you with it?
I went with OhmEx which is afaik still Swiss made.
Merci!
Welcome aboard India!
Sincerely, Canada
The consumer boycott has worked so well that senators are urging our PM to get us buying US products again.
Indian people, and everyone else in the world for that matter, be nasty like us, it’s fun!
Now if only we could get the Canadian government to stop investing in US weapons and epstein-tainted pipelines.
Good.
