Donald Trump said Tuesday that he has ordered his attorneys to conduct a review of Smithsonian museums, calling their portrayal of U.S. history too negative and focused too much on “how bad Slavery was.”
Trump said he would subject the museums to “the exact same process” his administration has conducted of universities, with the goal of making the Smithsonian less “woke.”

Actually, this is woke - i.e. the seeking out and understanding of systemic oppression in the past, present, and future. Specifically, it originated in regards to being aware of the oppression of African Americans, so this is about as woke as it gets.
Being woke isn’t a bad thing, at least not for anyone with a brain and a heart. In this case, the slave filled past of the US is essential history to anyone trying to understand how the country got where it is, and how to address it for the future.
