I played the base game a lot (many hundreds of hours, also before it was released on Steam). I think I’ve only tried the royalty DLC.
On one hand I want to get back into Rimworld, on the other hand the mechanics from all the DLCs seem overwhelming.

It’s got a top-down CRPG view (similar to the Fallout 1/2), but Avernum: Escape from the Pit might fit thematically.
You end up in an underground fantasy world where “undesirables” are sent to by a corrupt empire.
Another option would be Underrail. Another top down CRPG, this time based in a post-apocalytic world where everyone lives underground. The world building is top notch and the combat is very well developed with lots of choices (it’s a also IMO a hard game). While the world building is strong, the writing (characters and their motivations) is rather weak.
I had to read more than once to realise it is not a game about WinRAR.
I had the same issue. I was actually genuinely interested about how a wargame was made about WinRAR.
I can understand a business tycoon game where you have to develop a compression/archive software company. Very, very nerdy, but there is a logic here.
A wargame about WinRAR? That’s a whole different level.
I will add that as per the lore of the game, the Romans discovered steam power and started to colonize the new world. Rather unique I must say.
For sure, I am just curious. Not to lecture others, for my own knowledge. :)
I see where you are coming from, but as someone who speaks several other languages, I would say there can be benefits to lanagauge rules.
Didn’t mean to imply you can’t, I was just curious about the formal rules for the word.
And it seems “impacted” can be used in the sense of “affected”.
I am confused :)
Just a quick web search; the first few results which linked to dictionary style resources.
Now I am confused. :)
At first I was thinking, why not use “impacted”, it sounds a little bit awkward, but I’ve definitely seen it being used in relatively formal situations (or at least that’s what I remember).
But no, I looked it up and “impacted” should not be used in the sense of affected. TIL.
First time I’ve heard of Vintage Story, sounds like a well made Minecraft clone.
It’s almost comical how incompetent the Xbox BU’s executive management has been for 10+ years.
One would almost think they are having a laugh, but no it’s for real (I don’t think are intentionally trying to come up with such comically stupid naming policies).
Tumblr is still around?
