What is tone deaf about this?
What is tone deaf about this?
This is exactly right. People have become fixated on their home being an investment and retirement fund. They can’t imagine that it is NOT worth $2M for a 3 bedroom 2 bath with 2 car garage. Also, the last 10 years of mortgage interest rates being lower than the rate of price growth allowed people to guarantee profit. Now that interest rates are higher than growth rates, it’s the opposite.
Some of them have been in those houses for a long time and have decided that they don’t need to sell, so might as well just stay there until the market recovers and they can make a bunch of money again. And if it doesn’t, they are still fine. If this is their primary home that isn’t sitting empty, then I’m fine with these people.
Some of them are just being stubborn and falling into the sunk cost fallacy. They bought the house recently, hoping to flip it. Now they can’t without taking a huge loss, so they will bleed themselves dry hoping the market changes. These people piss me off.
It really sucks they are trying to kill this, because it works. I have driven in NYC many times, and the traffic was so much better when I drove there after the congestion pricing. I am even going to avoid driving into NYC next time I go for work. My company picks up the bill for that congestion pricing, but it’s a reminder that I can help.
Two reasons:
He doesn’t get a cut of the money.
It infringes on what many in the US see as a basic human right: the ability to own and drive a car. If he were still a Democrat and pandering to that segment of the population, he would be all for this. But he is pandering to the people who don’t like to be told they can or can’t do anything, even if it is better for both them and the world around them, so he has to be against it. Also, it is framed as lowering pollution, which is (for whatever asinine reasons) something conservatives hate.
This is basically like a Fast Pass at a theme park. Rich people pay extra to be able to get somewhere faster. Normally, the GOP are all for giving advantages to rich people. But in this case it hurts two of their fundamental principles.
It is absolutely hilarious how bad their site is during big daddy’s minor sale. An entire week of no news just, “50 cents off this humidifier.”
“all students and staff will receive a message conveying a “zero tolerance” policy for harassment of Jewish and Israeli students.”
Will there also be a statement about a zero tolerance policy for harassment of Muslim and Palestinian students? What about a statement about a zero tolerance policy for harassment of peaceful protestors?
So there was definitely sex trafficking of minors. There were definitely many people involved other than Epstein and Maxwell. There was more than enough evidence to convict both of them, but the DOJ declined to pursue any charges against any of those other many people. Epstein died in prison with extremely questionable circumstances. Pam Bondi said on TV she had the list on her desk, but now they are saying a list doesn’t exist. There are thousands of photos and videos in evidence, but the DOJ will not release that evidence to any other prosecutors.
There is a lack of evidence of a cover-up because all of the evidence has been covered up.
NOTHING TO SEE HERE! EVERYONE MOVE ON!
I have no idea on the first question, but the second question was answered in the story. The French police are being paid by the UK government to stop the immigrant boats.
Yes, clearly not all boomers did this. My dad didn’t go to college and is the trades. He isn’t making any rules about people needing college.
So when boomers came into the workforce they did not need college degrees to get ahead. After they had gotten ahead and were in charge, new employees started needing college degrees to get ahead.
And you think they didn’t set it up themselves? If they didn’t, who did?
Only if they speak two languages. Healthcare requires patient interaction, so knowing the local language is essential. Even if all the doctors speak English and all the schools teach in English in France, they will have to treat a person who only speaks French.
The difference between a layoff and a RIF is that a layoff means they can’t afford to pay for specific positions right now and that if they can in the future then they will reopen those jobs, while a RIF means they are changing the structure of the company and all those jobs are going away permanently.
Nothing says, “we’re definitely not corrupt” like hiding all the communications of your elected officials.
Farmers in CA are largely Trump voters. Just sayin.
While this isn’t as far as I’d like them to go, this is extremely big news. The amount of money spent on absolute bullshit fees by defense contractors is bonkers. Us taxpayers are shelling out billions of dollars to buy a single jet that we then have to spend millions of dollars per year to maintain, simply because we aren’t allowed to maintain it ourselves.
