It could have been worse. Could a Trump delegation actually be productive and not sabotage the summit?
The USA was not going to help after the orange menace gained power. It could have been worse other than non participation.
I’m grateful he did not send a delegation headed by the someone who doubts carbon dioxide exits. Or one who thinks climate change helps bring the second coming of Christ.
This tech we all use is advancing exponentially.
And we must be ready to embrace the dizzying changes in the next few years so that we can improve our lives and have better governments.

Until we get to net-zero emissions, extreme weather will only get worse
Am I wrong in thinking extreme weather will get worse for a very long time, thousands of years, even after zero emissions? The co2 is not removed after that, and the warming and cooling cycle will disrupt things for at least 30,000 years even if we reached that goal today ?
I suspect the reaction would have been less if the Christian themed camps were spared.
Even so, I doubt even these protests can do much
The NYT has been that way more than 5 generations. Despite the easily deserved scorn and contempt, it has not significantly changed since world war 1, and was iffy at best in the late 1800s.
Every few years there is a rotten new scandal that has people swear it off.
It is is a mixed experience. But with the bad come good. It is and probably will continue to be a good source of news of the environment.

A government sabotaging all the data it can, and eliminating protections on hundreds of things will hurt that country much more in the long run than anything else.
Yes, a run away American environmental damage can make things worse for warming; but much more depends on what other countries can do.
The USA has been foot dragging its response the last generation; and would not have done more than cosmetic enforcement had a more rational government held power. So, unless the Americans really cannot have good government, this will probably spark a backlash, and may begin a true response to the crisis when a halfway competent government wins the tribal wars
