The right-wing think tank behind Project 2025 is now crafting new policy suggestions, including an incentive for married couples to have more children, according to a report.

Following its controversial 900-page blueprint for President Donald Trump’s second term, the Heritage Foundation is now drafting a new position paper that includes calls for a “Manhattan Project to restore the nuclear family,” referring to the program to develop the first nuclear weapons, the Washington Post reported.

The forthcoming paper, titled “We Must Save the American Family,” reportedly urges the government to pour funds into individual families rather than child care programs, like Head Start, according to the Post.

The Heritage Foundation is also urging the president to issue orders that require all proposed policies to “measure their positive or negative impacts on marriage and family.” If a program scores poorly, it should be revamped, according to the Post.

“For family policy to succeed, old orthodoxies must be re-examined and innovative approaches embraced, but more than that, we need to mobilize a nation to meet this moment,” the paper reportedly reads.

Encourage people to have more kids by…

Ending vaccine requirements for public schools.

    Cutting funding for mRNA vaccines.

    Pushing for child marriage.

    Pushing for child labor.

    Essentially outlawing women’s health care.

    What else am I forgetting?

Tanking the economy thereby massively increasing financial insecurity, you know the number one thing that discourages people from deciding to have kids.

Yeah, but if you take away the choice from the parent that will be burdened with the emotional and financial costs of bringing up a child, that won’t even matter.

Nothing meaningful to address school shootings

Fighting against free school lunches (need-based or otherwise)

      Further commodification of housing, unaffordability

Increasing concentration of wealth in hands of fewer and fewer - we are devolving into a winner-take-all paradigm

Increasingly dangerous roads for pedestrians and cyclists (children cannot drive)

Supporting a livestreamed genocide and persecuting those who speak out against it

      Rolling back labor protections

      Rolling back environmental protections

My take on this based on knowledge of the kinds of pieces of shit these people are and the fact that they specifically don’t want to fund childcare programs:

They want to pick and choose what families they want having more babies and they’re going to take your tax money and funnel it to those families. Essentially eugenics is probably their end goal.

    A. Why does fucking everything have to be the Manhattan project with these people?

    B. This is one of those things that should show you “small government” and economic conservativism were never anything except talking points to these people.

I very much support giving more money to help with child care. If you removed the “we’re only going to be helping nuclear families to encourage the mothers to stay at home and have more babies” aspect, this is actually a policy most people on the left would also support. Imagine bipartisan support for a policy. All you have to do is take away the discrimination part.

Again, recommending this book that traces the origins (and hypocrisy) of the Heritage Foundation and Project 2025. This was one of their original family first policies created in the late 70s or early 80s by Connaught Marshner.

A woman with her own established career, who has always believed that women should not work, a woman’s place is in the home, and government policies should try to force that to happen.

When confronted about this hypocrisy, she brushed it off as her job being “more of a calling” than a career. Not even fucking kidding. It’s documented in an interview she gave.

Once again, the justification boils down to “it’s different because I’m me and you’re you. Don’t worry about what I’m doing, let me tell you how you should be living your life.”

When you know this shit, you start to understand why people building an allegedly Christian nation would want everyone to believe that “empathy is a sickness.” Bc if it wasn’t, that would make them blatantly obvious hypocrites who are completely full of shit.

Not to defend their hypocrisy, but making single-income households viable again would go a long way towards increasing birth rates. There’s a grain of truth in the fascist stupidity.

That’s kinda the trick to all of this. As long as you’re willing to accept or ignore the fact that you will only benefit from these policies at the cost of excluding or harming others, then you will see it as in your best interest to support it.

That’s why I say that aspect of it (making sure families make enough money to survive on a single income if they chose to) would actually be a pretty liberal/bipartisan policy if it weren’t targeted at only benefiting traditional nuclear families. It’s definitely not a small government/fiscally conservative/traditional Republican policy.

If you look like what we believe traditional America is supposed to look like, and you’re willing to comply/fall in line with what we say has to be done to achieve this policy, you’ll be rewarded (allegedly). That is how this whole operation works. They need a population of people who are willing to be exploited in exchange for some benefit to help carry out a worse exploitation on the people being harmed by the policies they create.

It’s not too dissimilar from policies that might, for example, tank the economy, destroy thousands of jobs, and then offer an abundance of hiring positions working with ICE at a huge starting salary with zero experience. As long as you comply, you see nothing wrong with what you’re doing or who you’re working for (because again, empathy is a sickness), and you have faith that this is just what God wanted to happen, then the people at the top keep making a fortune off these policies and you’re allowed to live comfortably. You and the people creating these policies both benefit. It’s in your best interest to just do as you’re told and trust this administration the same way you would trust in God to receive his blessings. This all allegedly being part of God’s plan, has always been their way of rationalizing and explaining away anything morally questionable.

The New Right targeted what they used to call the moral majority, and started using classic in-group vs out-group tactics not long after the civil rights movement by calling for a return to “traditional” American values. They started out by attacking “multiculturalism” in the 70s by claiming it was an attack on their own values, then it gradually shifted to “political correctness” and popularizing the term “cultural marxism” in the early 90s to describe a culture war on Christianity and any “traditional” values. Eventually, it was updated again to “wokeness” and then to the most recent attacks on anything that can vaguely blamed as DEI.

They wanted to create the illusion of an attack by the left to make it seem that there is just no place for Christians. That they aren’t welcome or wanted because the goal of the left is simply to destroy Christianity and promote Cultural Marxism. Meanwhile, they claimed to be fighting back in the right to try and preserve and hold on to our “Christian” nation and our traditional values. Since they are fighting this fictional war (that they very deliberately created) on behalf of God, that means God chose to put them and everyone else in whatever position they may find themselves because he needs them there to carry out his plan.

This also means they can claim their own positions of power can simply be explained by divine will, but really this is the ultimate quiet part that the leaders at the top of this movement never say out loud. What really connects the people like Peter Thiel, and Elon Musk with the rest of the more traditional types in the Heritage Foundation is this bizarre belief in a sort of natural caste system. There are simply people who have and those who have not. There are people who count and people who don’t. That’s just the natural order of things, and there is no reason to look for reason why that is, or how a deck was stacked when the cards fell. It’s just the way it is. If necessary they will try to make a claim about social darwinism and survival of the fittest, or selfish genes, or any number of very questionable arguments as to why anyone should believe that they and only they were born to win the game.

They truly believe there is a sort of natural hierarchy ordained by either God or nature that allows for an elite few to be granted great power and control over everyone else. As far as everyone else, it becomes only about God and another hierarchy for those willing to help carry out God’s plan by serving those at the top who control, and then those that they claim go against or just don’t seem to fit into God’s plan.

It’s unclear why God would ever create anyone that didn’t fit into his plan, but that kind of thinking and any questioning of their power and control can easily be written off as just another example of someone who is either willingly or unwillingly (they are brainwashed and just don’t know it) fighting the war on Christianity on behalf of the cultural Marxists.

This is how you sell absolutely massive and unaccountable government spending to “small gummint” types. You couch it in terms of a righteous struggle against an external threat that ended with American dominance, and if you can hint at a bunch of non-white people getting disintegrated as a side effect, then so much the better.

Well put. Marshner is essentially a televangelist - by “preaching the gospel”, she secures her endowment of wealth and immunity from religious prosecution. This system typifies the Trump regime, expanded to other things that people prone to magical thinking worry about - conspiracy theories, vaccines, folk medicine, etc.

It’s effective directly because it gives believers every chance to carry and spread a believable and reassuring lie, and to disregard or attack outsiders who try to inject rationality. Essentially, a cult.

    So just to be clear:

    • I’m pretty sure I’m not having kids at this point, but considering I’m thinking pretty seriously about emigration next year, perhaps by taking advantage of one of the various incentive programs that are appearing in the EU, who knows.
    • I am absolutely, 100%, without a doubt sure I would NEVER have a kid in the US at this point

Same, I wanted to have another one last year but I didn’t bc these kinds of policies were all ready coming down the pipeline at the state level. I’m a mixture of relieved that I didn’t and heartbroken, but mostly just very, very, angry. I don’t like being manipulated and controlled by anyone, let alone a bunch of rich evil weirdos.

Channeling the rage to warn others and throwing banana peels in the way of these people whenever I get the chance has been therapeutic.

Please be warned if you are capable of having children…

DO NOT USE PERIOD TRACKERS!! Hide that info in your usual calendar or notes. Do not have it anywhere others can see or access it.

And with RFK (a pro-natalist movement advocate) pushing wearable technologies I’d be cautious about using the more advanced ones. We know from public records the FBI and local departments have back door access to iPhones and androids. If your activity drastically changes, or heart rate changes more than 2% while on your period. They can and probably will know when you should be having your period.

The religious are obsessed with this because enforcement of “the nuclear family” offers them a wedge of control into the private lives of others. Marriage and children are under influenceable legislation by the state, which is why these people FREAK out when you mess with those legal institutions with things like marriage equality and abortion.

The ones at the top need the power to stay relevant and wealthy, and the flock eats up the flowery nonsense language about “faith” and “God’s plan.”
