A few months ago now, Arizona? Arkansas maybe? Some state legalized “AI powered” home schooling systems. But it was mostly clickbait and the system is less like ChatGPT and more like the YouTube Algorithm machine learning. It takes into account the stuff that students do well at and let’s them advance beyond “grade level” limitations while also learning how to present problem areas in ways the student responds to.
I had asked my home schooled AI researcher buddy his thoughts and he obviously liked it. I like the idea too, but my hang up was on socializing kids. That to me is the more important role of schools.
I wouldn’t trust an LLM in this set up though. A human tutor would still need to step in for questions outside of a FAQ IMO. I love working with an LLM by giving it all the manuals, guides, and config files I used then asking where I went wrong because it can usually give me a good enough interpretation to see where to go next. But that’s just a rubber duck. My mind and skills are developed. A kid learning math for Tue first time can’t do that.
As a floatplane subscriber, you’re really not missing much. I don’t even watch most of the exclusives.
Oh the rossman video.
I hate how obsessed on dumb shit he gets. The man is legitimately doing great work usually, and then he takes something minor that an otherwise ally says or does and blows it out of proportion.
This man would have made a great tankie. Unfortunately he made a whole 20 minute video on why AOC is stupid for saying unskilled labor doesn’t exist and then explaining exactly the points she was making.
I legitimately love this mans work and I wanna support him, but man is he petty.
A Microsoft glazing botnet leveraging copilot and all of r/linuxsucks training data to shitpost on Lemmy made by a developer who took a Janatorial job at Microsoft to “get his foot in the door” during an internal hackathon he was accidentally invited to.
Funny domain names for hosting code is why godaddy exists.

I’ve been thinking about swapping my work laptop to Linux too.
The difference is I’m in IT and I know what all things I need to put on my computer to make it compliant with all our policies and all the software I need to do my job.
I’ve been experimenting by running some Linux VMs with all the EDR, patching, and logging software we need. But by the time I’m doing all that, there’s really no point in using Linux except for the CLI which WSL has been great for that.
Ya wanna host it on my forgejo instance?
I’m about to move it to a kubenetes cluster once my parts come in.
I always am shocked at how detailed the reports are, but I imagine they have to legally record and report on absolutely everything they found even if its irrelevant.
A grad course in AI/LLM/ML might actually be useful. Its where my old roommates learned about Googles Transformers and got into LLMs before the hype bubble in 2018.
Home might get ahead of the curve for the next over inflated hype bubble and then proceed to make unearned garbage loads of money and have learned something other than how to put ChatGPT in a new wrapper.
Censorship?
What is missing from the original?
I’ve only played the remaster.
Fuck yes dude! I’m so excited to play this!
I figured it was just a skill issue on my end that Spotify wasn’t working, but I really should be just buying CDs/digital albums as opposed to paying the Spotify subscription
I’m a week into using GrapheneOS and its been great. It is a little restrictive in that I seem to have to explicitly allow apps to run and apps like my Bank app or Spotify don’t work.
However, most apps are just Web Apps at this point and I’ve noticed very little difference in the use of the app versus the pinned browser version.
I’m also trying to curb a phone addiction so Graphene + Lemmy + Mastodon + Jellyfin is all I’m using on this thing.
I assume google headphones would cease to work if I degoogle the device
I’m using my Pixel Buds. They work just as well. Remember, its just a Bluetooth device just without all the QOL stuff like voice control.
I recommend trying it. Graphene OS install also has instruction ions to revert if you change your mind. And it’s pretty easy. Maybe a touch harder than installing Linux generally, but if your dailying Debian, you’re fine.
Fully agree. I tried to make the SC work and wrote off a lot of it as “I’m just not used to it”, but it really is asking a lot. In its defence, it was a first run product. The fact that it’s still ass usable and as weird is impressive enough to me. But it’s better as a piece of gaming history than a good product. It was just a good try.
I also agree with the Steam deck controls being actually good. I want the SC2 that’s just a steam deck without the screen or computer.
So I guess the opposite of the steam brick.
I’d gladly pay $100 to have a steam deck like control scheme for my desktop. Rechargeable batteries and a Linux first design would be awesome. I don’t mind just using cables all the time, but I would like better wireless options for Linux gamepads (though to be fair, I haven’t tried connecting a wireless controller to a Linux box in 5 years).
Missed the lore.
Why boycott .ml ?
This is something I tell people all the time. It’s just as easy to troubleshoot on Linux as it is on Windows the biggest issue is that most people are just kinda innately aware of Windows troubleshooting by virtue of the fact that they’ve been doing it for so long. Linux is probably just as complicated skill wise, but most people just aren’t used to it yet.
And that’s especially true for gamers. If you’ve gone through the dance of tweaking BIOS settings or DDU removing drivers and reinstalling them, then you’re probably gonna do fine on Linux. The only difference is sometimes there won’t be a GUI you have to go hunt down. It will be like 3 commands someone has already written out for you that you copy/paste into the CLI. Which is WAY better in my opinion.
Considering Randy REALLY wants you to pay $130 USD for this game, I’m not shocked his performance advice was “be less poor”
