    Can anyone point to a new nuclear power project in EU (or former EU) countries since the 2000s that was somewhat on time and in budget?

      I think there were only two new nuclear reactors that began construction between 2000 and 2020 in the whole EU, EEC, and UK. One in Finland, one in France. Both ran over schedule, but the Finnish one is up and running now

        There is Paks II, a second reactor to the aging Paks complex in Hungary. It was built by the Russians, and predictably it’s a mess of budget overruns, rife with corruption, and with the war it seems that the govt will have to still pay the Russians despite them not being able to deliver, since the contract was so intensely in Russia’s favour most likely. Nobody really knows, since the contract itself is classified until at least around 2046.

        And the Finnish one was worth it since it went online when the Ukraine war started and renewables are a bit limited still here in the winter (it’s basically only wind for winter. Too dark for solar and too frozen for hydro).

        But Finland and the Nordics are an exception to the rule.
